Urodynamic Studies

Urodynamic studies are always performed in our office. The results can be complicated and treatment planning is tailored specifically to every patient. The urodynamic evaluation and treatment plan will be reviewed in detail with the patient at their next appointment.

Kidney Ultrasound Results

When Renal and Bladder Ultrasound Studies are performed in our office, the results will be available to the patient at the next appointment. We prefer not give results over the phone. We believe that there is better patient care, follow through and treatment planning when the test results and review are done with the patient present.

CT Scans or other Imaging

Other than renal and bladder ultrasounds, all other imaging is done at an outside center. Where these studies are to be done is often patient preference although many insurance companies now require that they be done in a specific facility.

Our scheduling team is a great resource and will be the ones to find out if a referral is needed or if a specific center is required. All studies are available on a disc that you then bring to the office. We are able to then upload the discs in our office computer and review the images.

The reports are faxed to our office after the imaging is completed or the results are requested by phone to be sent to us. This is only a written report, the disc is never sent to us directly. The results and treatment planning is reviewed in detail with the patient at the next appointment.

Bladder Biopsy

When a cystoscopy, or look in the bladder with a scope is performed, the results are given to the patient immediately. When a biopsy is obtained during a cystoscopy and sent to the pathologist the results are not available to the office for 10 days to two weeks. The reason it takes this long is that the tissue is prepared on the slides with special staining techniques, etc. that require time for proper reading.
The results and treatment planning is reviewed in detail with the patient at the next appointment.

Prostate Biopsy Results

Prostate biopsies are either done under local anesthesia in the office or under sedation in the surgical center. The tissue cores are then sent to the pathology lab where it is processed with special staining techniques for accuracy. The results are received in the office within 10 days to two weeks. The results and treatment planning is reviewed in detail with the patient at the next appointment.
